GENERAL PROVISIONS
Passport and Visa required.
Visas should be obtained from the Consular Office of the Embassy of Ukraine in Washington,
D.C. or Consulates General in New York and Chicago.
No visas are required
for citizens of Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Mongolia, Yugoslavia (except Slovenia
and Croatia) and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (except
Turkmenistan).
Applicants holding
passports issued by the following countries must allow at least 12 business days for their
visa application to be processed: Angola, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Ghana,
India, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Democratic Republic of Congo, China, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco,
Nigeria, Pakistan, Syria, Somali, Sri-Lanka.
Citizens of the above mentioned countries must additionally submit the following
documents: · Proof of readmissibility to USA (US Alien Registration Card, US Temporary
Resident Card, employment authorization etc.) · Original letter of invitation (No fax or
e-mail copies) made through a Ukrainian "Visa and Registration Office" (For all
types of visa).
VISA TYPES
Based on the purpose of
entry, a BUSINESS, TOURIST, PRIVATE or a TRANSIT VISA is granted.
IMPORTANT:
Since only one type of visa is issued per entry, the primary purpose of entry should be
stated in the application form.
HOW, WHEN AND WHERE TO APPLY
Each of the above visas may
be applied for in person at the Consular Section of the Embassy of Ukraine in
Washington, D.C., or Ukrainian Consulates in
San Francisco, New York, and Chicago.
Documents may also be sent by mail or through authorized travel/visa services.
Please be advised that
the Consular Office does not accept any other kind of mail and does not bear
responsibility for postal service. Any application received on Saturday, Sunday and
official American or Ukrainian holidays (January 1 & 7, March 8, May 1-2 & 9,
June 6, June 28, August 24) will be processed starting on the next business day.
We kindly ask you not to
call the Consular Office regarding your visa status as that may interrupt your visa
processing.
TO OBTAIN A VISA
AN APPLICANT MUST SUBMIT
- A valid passport, re-entry
permit or refugee travel document with at least one free page for a visa. Only original
documents are accepted.
- One completed application form.
- One recent passport size photograph.
